New Port Adventures developed in partnership with local tour operators will take guests beyond Lighthouse Point to explore the rich culture and breathtaking beauty of Eleuthera. After disembarking, Cast Members are on hand to give out beach towels, so you don’t need to bring a towel from the ship. Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult from their own stateroom when disembarking at any port of call. A parent or guardian may complete a “Traveling with Minors” form during online check-in to allow another specified adult to accompany their child off the ship. Mail sent from the small turquoise-colored building is marked with a special postmark and Bahamian stamps that are unique to Castaway Cay. If the post office isn’t open while you are there, you can buy Bahamian postage on the ship at guest services, and they will mail your postcard for you. How much does it cost to go to Castaway Cay?
Lines can get long, so plan accordingly, especially if you have hot and hungry little ones in tow. The Grand Family Cabana cost $1,127.50 for up to 10 people and could accommodate up to 16, with each additional guest charged $56 per person. Fresh fruit and light snacks are provided, as are unlimited soda and bottled water. You can press a button in your cabana to call them if you don't see anyone and want to order a drink or get your soda, water or snacks restocked. Currently, it's not offered as a group activity, but you can do it on your own, on your honor, and pick up a medal back at the bike rental booth.

Watching the movies later in the evening ensured that I did not miss any of the fun and events that happened each night onboard. I was very surprised to discover that there seemed to be nearly as many opportunities, if not more, for passengers onboard to meet their favorite characters. Meeting Disney characters may not be for everyone, but for those who do enjoy the chance to shake hands and take a picture with their favorite Disney character, there will be plenty of opportunities. First, in addition to the “Disney Bubble,” we talked about in #2, the entire vacation is sprinkled with Disney magic. Finishers can visit Guest Services to collect a (rubber) medal, and merchandise is available to purchase.
All in all, we expect Lighthouse Point to be a great destination for Disney Cruise Line guests. Based on the description, it sounds like DCL and Imagineering have learned lessons from what worked and didn’t with Castaway Cay, and this is essentially the next generation of that. It appears that practical improvements have been made, giving Lighthouse Point a greater sense of fun and luxuriousness, along with the increased emphasis on authenticity. That’s just my impression based on the concept art and press release, though. Think of Disney Castaway Cay as a Choose Your Own Beach Adventure kind of place. From where you decide to hang out to how you want to get around, there’s something for everyone.
